MY VALUES FOR BUILDING GREAT COMPANIES

By Noah Koff

HOW DO MY VALUES HELP ACCOMPLISHED COMPANIES GO FROM GOOD TO GREAT?

My mission is to help founders sustainably build great 8-figure business — by attacking the chaos of entrepreneurship with a calm head and strong values.

My way of working is different because it balances strategy, execution, cash flow with strong values.

My judgment comes from my own experience overcoming the obstacles of entrepreneurship to achieve successful outcomes. Although my work solves for diverse problems and goals, I have a common set of beliefs.

Scaling your business is not simply about strategy. Setting objectives is the right place to start as part of a long-term roadmap with measurable milestones. I believe as the saying goes, vision with a plan is a dream. Because execution is equally important as setting the strategy if you want to see sustainable results and a return on your investment.

That’s why I don’t believe in:

  • Overly complex strategy, because simple is beautiful;
  • Relying ONLY on your gut feeling to make decisions if you want a drama free board room;
  • Outsourcing execution to large high-cost teams;
  • Short-term thinking because if you want to control your destiny, you need to balance today’s needs with strong values.

I want to lay out my values for you, which I’ve developed over decades working with respected companies big and small. Along the way, I’ve experience many company cultures, and approaches to navigating growth, which have helped me develop a strong point of view about what’s important for building great companies.

  1. I believe that experimentation drives learning and incremental progress to goals.
  2. I believe that being empathetic and putting myself in another person’s shoes is good business and fuels healthy relationships.
  3. I believe in teamwork because good work happens when people work in close partnership to get stuff done, thinking about “we” rather than “me”.
  4. I believe that establishing clear accountabilities keeps everyone focussed on doing the right things, at the right time, and with clear metrics for success.
  5. I believe that diversity, equity and inclusion for people of all cultural backgrounds, genders and religions are central to an organization’s strength.
  6. I believe that simple strategies lead to the most effective results in business and life.
  7. I believe that balance keeps things moving in life — between give and take, work and play, and complexity and simplicity.

Do you believe in any of these things?
