The world feels heavier.
Friends in LA are losing everything to disasters.
Family in Israel are in bomb shelters.
The news hits closer to home.
Meanwhile, your to-do list is longer than ever.
The year just started, and you are already behind.
But here’s the thing: you don’t have to do everything.
Instead of hustling harder, I’m choosing to do less.
I’m choosing one focus.
One word: Community.
This year, I want to show up differently.
I’m showing up with more curiosity.
Empathy is a value of mine; this is how it looks in my life.
In my conversations, I ask friends if they have a concept (or word) for the year.
I’m interested in learning about challenges.
I’m putting myself in other people’s shoes.
Do you have a concept I know something about from my life as a dad entrepreneur building and scaling companies from London to Portland?
Is there a burning challenge in your way I know something about?
Can I help you with a pathway or resource for something you face?
Selfishly, are you the type of person I’d want to work with and help to have a fantastic year?
So try this for yourself.
Is there a concept that represents your word for the new year?
I was talking to a friend today who’s in China doing business.
He said he’s still thinking about his word and can’t make up his mind.
I asked him are you overthinking it, is it right in front of you?
My ask is that if (and when) you find a word for the year, you share it with me.
Do we have a deal?
Without giving too much away here, I’ll be sharing more soon about how I’m supporting my community in a new way and how you can be part of it.
That’s all for now friends.
Noah
